Stock research guide

Know what is behind every ticker

Open a company page for the reported numbers, then follow the evidence into filings, ownership, earnings, forecasts, and comparisons.

01 Fundamentals Revenue, margins, cash flow
02 Ownership 13F and Form 4 activity
03 Research Earnings and scenarios
Inside each page Six layers of company research

Pick any ticker, starting with AAPL, NVDA, or GOOGL. Each page begins with a company snapshot and available reported fundamentals, then connects the ticker to relevant filings, ownership data, earnings, forecasts, and comparisons where those records exist.

  1. Company snapshot — sector, industry, business description, reported revenue, margin, cash flow, and balance-sheet context.
  2. Latest filing evidence — recent 10-K, 10-Q, or other source filings used for the displayed financial facts, with links back to SEC EDGAR.
  3. 13F institutional holdings — tracked managers that report the stock, position size, and available quarter-over-quarter share changes.
  4. Recent Form 4 activity — disclosed insider transactions, roles, transaction types, and filing links when the ticker appears in the current dataset.
  5. Earnings analysis — published company reports that explain results, guidance, margins, and market reaction.
  6. Forecast scenarios — assumption-led ranges and risks where a forecast article is available. These are not buy or sell signals; read our scope statement.
Coverage and organization 503 companies, one canonical page per ticker

The directory currently contains 503 US-listed companies, covering the available S&P 500 constituent dataset used by the site. Each stock has one canonical URL in the form /stocks/{ticker}, such as /stocks/aapl. The directory is alphabetical and paginated in groups of 25, while individual pages are regenerated through the site's scheduled data and publishing workflow.

A ticker may be absent when the source constituent list has changed, a new company has not completed the fundamentals pipeline, or public filing facts are not yet sufficient for a useful page. Send a request to @JessalynWanda with the ticker and the missing source you want reviewed.

Sources and freshness Primary filings first, scheduled refreshes
  • SEC EDGAR — company filings, XBRL facts, Form 4 transactions, 13F reports, filing dates, and original document links.
  • yfinance — market history and standardized reference fields used by selected research and screening workflows.
  • Finnhub — supplementary company and market data where appropriate.
  • Issuer investor relations sites — earnings releases, presentations, guidance, and company-specific source documents.

Updates run through scheduled ingestion and site builds rather than a guaranteed real-time service. SEC, market, earnings, and ownership datasets can refresh on different schedules. Always check the displayed as-of date and source link. Read the full research methodology.

Common questions 5 concise answers
How often is the data on each stock page updated?

Stock pages are regenerated through scheduled data ingestion and site builds. SEC filings and ownership data refresh when supported source jobs detect new records, while market values may be delayed and should not be treated as execution quotes.

What is the difference between a 10-K and a 10-Q?

The 10-K is a comprehensive annual report that includes audited financial statements. The 10-Q is a shorter quarterly report with unaudited interim financial statements. Both help investors compare business performance, risks, cash flow, and balance-sheet changes.

Why does Form 4 insider activity matter?

Form 4 reports transactions by directors, officers, and certain large shareholders. A single trade rarely proves an investment case, but clusters, transaction size, insider role, and the difference between open-market trades and grants can provide useful context.

Are SnowballHare stock forecasts buy or sell recommendations?

No. Forecast pages present scenarios, assumptions, business drivers, and risks. They are research outputs for education, not personalized recommendations, guaranteed targets, or a substitute for independent due diligence.

Can I get the underlying stock data through an API?

Not currently. Readers with a specific research, journalism, or internal-tooling use case can contact SnowballHare through @JessalynWanda on X.
